Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.

Reasons why kids cyberbully others:

Every day, cyberbullying impacts kids all over the world. In fact, there is no question that this growing issue must be addressed. But to put an end to online bullying you must first understand why kids are doing it.

• Cyberbullying is often a way to relieve boredom. Kids experience it as a way to inject excitement and drama into their lives, and it becomes a form of entertainment.
• Some who bully others believe the victim deserves it.
• Many who get involved in cyberbullying give in to peer pressure. They want to fit in or not be seen as the odd one out or uncool. Groups spur each other on.
• Some really don't see that they're doing anything wrong. They see it as just a harmless joke, especially when they have the sense that everyone does it.
• When teens believe lots of people are bullying online, they are more likely to engage in the behavior themselves. In their minds, it doesn’t seem like a significant problem because their peer group accepts the behavior.
• Cyberbullying can be a manifestation of social status. Kids who are popular often make fun of kids who are less popular.

How can you prevent cyberbullying?
Open up a discussion with your child about cyberbullying. It's the best way to show them you think it's important to their lives – and will make it easier for them to come to you in the future. Learn about what your child does online
If you haven't already, start setting some ground rules with your child about their online activity. A lot of social networking activity is entirely harmless and is part of the way kids today stay connected with each other. Help your child understand what they are.

It seems that illegal software is available anywhere, to anyone, at any time.
